Blue People Dolls new and revisited...

Some of you will remember the story of the "Blue People of Troublesome Creek" I blogged about in 2010. They were the inspiration for a few paintings and dolls. I have painted and made a few dolls along the way. But as usual inspiration took me along another path and I had put the Blue People on the back burner.  A follower asked me about them so I decided to repost some of the past picks and new ones of some I have in the works, I keep meaning to get back to them with gusto but inevitably something else pulls at me.

Pentecostal Preacher, The chicken raiser and Ruby....

I will at sometime make more because they are such a part of me. But for now they just sit and watch me do other things. Maybe they will start to speak louder and get my undivided attention soon.
He or she? only time will tell.

Not what I intended. Do other artist have this issue?

Say hello to "Ruby" I thought I would never finish her. I could not get a handle on where she was going. Funny thing is she did not go in the direction I had intended. Funny how dolls evolve on thier own. At least they do for me. No matter what my best laid plans for them are they come up with thier own itentity. I see one thing in my mind they show up as someone else. Sometimes that drives me crazy and sometimes Im pleasanly surprised.
Do any other of you artist have this issue. Do you see it as a hinderance or more of a natural evolution in your work.
I have wanted to recreate some of my work, especially doll faces I thought came out well. Not in a million years can I do it. I feel like a snowflake. I can never make 2 things look the same.
Oh Well let me know how you feel and have a great day with art.

Looking forward to finishing as I am excited about the persona I chose......Need to get to the craft store today and get a few things to complete this.

Another Appalachia Mountain People finished.

I love her eyes. My mama called these "bedroom eyes" As a teenager I thought she meant they were sexy...But alas its not. It meant they looked drowsy and sleepy.
Shes a purdy thang tho......

Pentacostal Blue Preacher...DONE!

I have finally finished the preacher. Of course he is an appalachian snake handler. They have always amazed and intriqued me. I know it took me months but that is because I worked on other things and put alot of thought into how I wanted him to look. Well, he is just as I imagined he would be......Filled with the spirit....He is a decendant of the "Blue people from troublesome Creek" as you can see I have painted him with a bluish cast. I haven't thought of a name yet...All input is welcome.

How I paint.....

Here is a peek at the begining of another Blue People...I like to start everything with a vibrant base color and build up from there. There will be many colors in between but just wanted to show you the very start of how I paint.
